JAKARTA - The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali, said that the KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321, Indonesia's new warship, will be stationed at the East Java Surabaya II Fleet Command (Koarmada).
Ali said the placement of KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 followed the previous warship, KRI Brawijaya-321, which was also produced by the Italian shipyard, Fincantieri, and was placed in the same armada.
"For KRI Prabu Siliwangi, the same, is stationed in Surabaya also in Koarmada II," said Alisaat at a press conference after welcoming the arrival of the ship at Pier 107 Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, Thursday, March 26.
He explained that the placement in Koarmada II because the new warship must be placed in a fleet with complete dock facilities.
"Why in Koarmada II? Because Koarmada II has a fairly complete base support facility," said Ali.
"Several ships from Armada II may be transferred to Armada I or to Armada III, replacing old ships," he continued.
KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 arrived in Jakarta after sailing from the La Spezia Naval Base dock, Italy, on February 11, 2026. Before docking in Jakarta, the ship had docked in Lampung on Monday (23/3).
The head of the TNI AL Information Service, Admiral TNI Tunggul, explained that this warship was designed to carry out various missions and was able to carry out patrol, surface, underwater, and air warfare missions; escorting important assets, maritime law enforcement operations, and humanitarian missions.
He said the KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321, which has a length of 143 meters and a width of 16.5 meters, had carried out a test to strengthen its alutsista capabilities and combat readiness before arriving in the country.
The ship is equipped with a 127-millimeter OTO Melara main gun, a 76-millimeter Strales gun for medium-range air targets, 16 vertical missile launchers for air attacks, Teseo Mk-2E missiles for surface targets, anti-submarine torpedoes, and close-range automatic weapons.
The TNI AL believes that the presence of KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 reinforces the TNI's steps in strengthening and modernizing the weapon system of the fleet, as well as demonstrating Indonesia's commitment to the defense and security of the maritime region.
"This reflects Indonesia's readiness to build high-tech defense capabilities, as well as respond to future maritime security challenges," said Tunggul.
