250,000 Vehicles Predicted to Return to Jakarta 29 March 2026

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Rivan A Purwantono, estimates that the peak of the 2026 Lebaran return flow to Jakarta will occur on Sunday, March 29 with the number of vehicles reaching more than 250,000 units.

The prediction was delivered by Rivan in Bekasi on Wednesday, March 25, based on the trend of vehicle movement during this year's return flow.

"We predict this will be around 250,000 vehicles on March 29, 2026, precisely on Sunday. This is around 250,000, that's a prediction," said Rivan.

According to him, this figure can still change depending on the pattern of people's return. If some of the travelers choose to return early on March 26 or 27, 2026, the surge in vehicles at the peak of the return flow can be reduced.

Rivan explained that the volume of vehicles recorded did not all come from long-distance homecoming trips because some were intercity visits.

"In this 171,000, those who leave Jakarta are silaturahmi, not long-distance homecoming. For example, from Jakarta to Bandung, it is still a silaturahmi, not a total homecoming," he said.

He appealed to the public to be more flexible in determining the time of travel to avoid congestion on toll roads.

"If in the fasting month it is usually out at dawn. However, after Lebaran, the trend is from afternoon to morning. So those hours are important to be able to see," said Rivan.

According to him, choosing an early departure day can be a solution so that the trip back to Jakarta is more comfortable.

"If you are worried about going home on March 29 because it is crowded, why don't you go home on March 26 and 27? And the choice is to leave during the day if you are not strong at night. So to the public, choose the right time, choose the right conditions, and then listen to the information that is conveyed," he concluded.
