Believing Trump's 'Fake News', Germany Confident US-Israel Escalation vs Iran Will Ease

JAKARTA - German Foreign Minister (Menlu) Johann Wadephul said he was optimistic about US President Donald Trump's claim about discussions between the US and Iran to end the conflict.

According to Wadephul, Trump's claim could lead to a new turning point in the conflict.

"Something is happening, and it is a good thing at this time when there is more risk of escalation than the possibility of controlling this conflict," Wadephul told German television station MDR on Tuesday, March 24, quoted by Reuters.

In his post on the Truth Social social media yesterday, Trump used capital letters to claim that the US and Iran had held "very good and productive" conversations about "a complete and total settlement of hostilities." However, Trump's claim was denied by the Iranian government.

Donald Trump's social media posts claim there are negotiations over a war he started with Israel against Iran.

One of them is the Speaker of the Iranian parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf who assessed that Trump had spread "fake news".

This false news came after Iran was not afraid of being threatened by Trump to open the Strait of Hormuz in 48 hours or power plants throughout the Islamic Republic were attacked by the US.

According to Ghalibaf, Trump lied for a purpose, namely to manipulate the oil and financial markets which were depressed by the Strait of Hormuz becoming a war zone triggered by the massive US-Israeli attack since February 28.

"There are no negotiations going on with the United States. These false news reports are intended to manipulate the financial and oil markets and to escape the chaos that traps the US and Israel," Ghalibaf said via his X account, Monday local time.
