JAKARTA - Heavy rain flushed Banda Aceh City and caused flooding in several areas and roads. A total of 14 villages in seven sub-districts in Banda Aceh City were flooded with water levels (TMA) ranging from 50-130 cm.

The flood also inundated the Zanoel Abidin Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Banda Aceh, an isolation place for COVID-19 patients. As a result, a number of patients, both positive for COVID-19 and patients under surveillance (PDP), had to be evacuated to another room.

"The patient is transferred to the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) and the thalassemia room which is safe, high, and flood-free," said RSUZA Director Dr. Azharuddin in a statement received by VOI, Saturday, May 9.

This high-intensity rain has flushed Banda Aceh since last Thursday, May 7. Based on a report from the Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA), at least 248 people from 65 families were forced to flee to Village Hall and a number of other places that were not flooded.

Banda Aceh Mayor Aminullah Usman appealed to the public to remain vigilant about the high rainfall. His party will make a number of efforts so that standing water in a number of locations can be minimized.

"We need to be aware of the heavy rains that cause flooding in our city. We hope that residents will remain vigilant, be well alert, if it rains, save goods to a higher place," said Aminullah.

Based on information received temporarily from the three districts and cities that were affected by the hydrometerological disaster, there were no reports of fatalities or injuries.

Meanwhile the Quick Reaction Team (TRC) and Damkar Personnel continue to monitor and review the location and check the water discharge at flood points and record losses and affected victims to ensure that there are no victims in the incident and are also assisted by the community, TNI, Polri. , Tagana, RAPI, Aceh Jaya SAR Task Force, PMI and other volunteers.
