Bukittinggi Police Implement Traffic Engineering to Prevent Traffic During Eid Holidays

PADANG - The Bukittinggi City Police (Polresta) in West Sumatra (Sumbar) implemented traffic engineering at a number of points in the city to prevent and disperse congestion during the 1447 Hijriah Eid holiday.

"Of course we are trying to engineer traffic to minimize potential congestion," said Bukittinggi Police Chief Kombes Ruly Indra Wijayanto in Bukittinggi City, Antara, Sunday, March 22.

The implementation of traffic engineering was carried out considering that Bukittinggi is one of the tourist destinations in the Ranah Minang, so it is estimated that there will be a spike in mobility to the city during the Lebaran holiday.

"Bukittinggi is a destination city, so the number of vehicles that will come here will definitely be very large," he said.

He did not deny that although traffic engineering had been carried out, it still had the potential to cause congestion due to the increasing volume of vehicles to various tourist attractions.

"Of course there will be certain points that are the locations of congestion. However, we have tried to do traffic engineering to minimize the potential for congestion," he said.

In general, the Bukittinggi Police have deployed 215 personnel who are members of the Ketupat Singgalang 2026 operation. In this operation, the Bukittinggi Police cooperated with the TNI, the Transportation Service, the Police Pamong Praja Unit, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Bukittinggi with a combined staff of 350 people.

Meanwhile, Dazul, one of the drivers from the direction of Padang Panjang City to Bukittinggi City, said that police personnel who were on duty to maintain traffic were very helpful to road users.

"One of the congestion points during Lebaran was at Simpang Padang Luar. But with the police regulating traffic, vehicle mobility is more orderly," said the Padang City resident.
