Samarinda's Mutilasi Case Caused by Motive of Heartbreak and Property, the Perpetrator Turned Out to be the Victim's Husband

SAMARINDA - The Samarinda City Police (Polresta) in East Kalimantan, revealed a murder case with mutilation by arresting two perpetrators in less than 12 hours.

Samarinda Police Chief Kombes Hendri Umar said the two perpetrators, who were suspected of being the main perpetrators, were secured in a short time after the incident was revealed.

"In just less than 12 hours, our ranks were able to secure two people suspected of being the main suspects in this mutilation incident," he said in Samarinda, Antara, Sunday, March 22.

This case was revealed after residents found the body of a woman with the initials S (35) in a condition of being cut into seven parts in the North Sempaja Village, Samarinda, on the first day of Eid al-Fitr, Saturday, March 21.

Hendri explained that the disclosure began with the rapid movement of the Inafis team, which managed to identify the victim's fingerprints in less than two hours after the evacuation.

Based on the identity, the joint team then traced the victim's closest people until they finally arrested the victim's siri husband with the initials J (53) and a woman with the initials R (56).

From the results of the investigation, it was found that the murder had been planned since January 2026, including the scenario of disposing of the victim's body.

"The motive for this crime was triggered by feelings of pain due to accusations of infidelity as well as the intention to control the victim's property," said Hendri.

The action was carried out on Thursday (19/3) early morning, when the suspect J abused the victim using a wooden beam until he died.

To remove traces, the two perpetrators cut the victim's body before throwing it into a hidden location in the Sempaja Utara area.

The police then combed through surveillance camera (CCTV) footage and collected witness statements. The perpetrator J was arrested while hiding in a mosque, while the perpetrator R was secured at his residence.

For their actions, the two suspects were charged with Article 340 of the Criminal Code concerning premeditated murder with a threat of the death penalty, life imprisonment, or a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.
