Jemaah Muhammadiyah Surabaya Holds Id Salat Khidmat at Various Points

SURABAYA - The Muhammadiyah congregation in Surabaya, East Java, held a 1447 Hijriah Eid prayer in a number of points, one of which was at Al Anwar Mosque, Medokan Ayu, Rungkut District, local area, Friday, March 20.

"Since 5.30 it has been crowded. Alhamdulillah, even though it got to the road, it was still orderly and devout," said one of the residents of Medokan Ayu, Rahmat, quoted by Antara.

Since 05.00 WIB, pilgrims have started to arrive until they fill the mosque area and the courtyard, even spilling out in two directions on Jalan Medokan Asri.

Even though some roads were used for the Salat, it still took place in an orderly and smooth manner.

The Id prayer at the location is one of the points set by the Rungkut Muhammadiyah Branch Leadership (PCM), with the imam Hasan Faruqi SPdI.

Another resident, Satria Unggul Wicaksana Prakasa, assessed that the difference in the determination of Eid al-Fitr this year did not reduce the solemnity of worship.

"This year there are two differences in determining the holiday, in the government and also NU (Nahdlatul Ulama). Of course this does not reduce the service of celebrating Eid al-Fitr. I think this is a good thing to establish brotherhood," he said.

According to Satria, who is also the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya (Umsura), this difference is an opportunity to respect each other among Muslims.

"Even though there are differences, because families also celebrate on Saturday, we still respect each other, we still visit each other. God willing, it does not reduce the service in the implementation of Eid al-Fitr," he continued.

He added, Muhammadiyah in Surabaya has set up about 106 points for the implementation of the Salat Id, most of which are held in open spaces such as fields and highways.

"The characteristic of Muhammadiyah is indeed in the field or the wide highway, even though it is close to the mosque. And today it looks very crowded and solemn," he said.
