Peak of Arus Mudik Wednesday to Thursday, 270 Thousand Vehicles Pass

JAKARTA - Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Irjen Agus Suryonugroho revealed that the volume of vehicles during the Lebaran homecoming reached 270 thousand vehicles as of Thursday morning.

"If from the data, the peak flow from March 18 (Wednesday) to this morning (Thursday) was 270,000," he said at the KM 29 Toll Cikampek Command Center, West Java, Thursday, March 19.

This figure, he said, increased by around 4.26 percent compared to the same period last year with a record 258 thousand vehicles.

Therefore, Korlantas implements contraflow traffic engineering starting from KM 36.

"We have already done a contraflow one lane to 47. After there was still another rise, from 47 we extended to 48, that is two lanes. From 48, we made a traffic flow lane three to 70. To 70, of course, the direction to Trans Java is smooth because we have done one way national," he said.

In the process, he continued, the Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed (MBZ) flyover toll road was temporarily closed for approximately 1.5 hours to support the implementation of contraflow.

Currently, the MBZ toll has been opened and traffic flows smoothly.

Kakorlantas said the number of traffic accidents recorded a significant decrease of 2.8 percent to the seventh day of Operation Ketupat 2026 compared to the seventh day of Operation Ketupat 2025.

Meanwhile, the fatality rate of the deceased victims has decreased significantly by 40 percent compared to the same period last year.

"Hopefully, until the end of the Ketupat Operation, we can still maintain it," he said.

"And we hope that fellow travelers will have to be careful, have to be patient. The peak of the flow has been passed, we just have to wait for a certain percentage to secure it," he added.
