JAKARTA - Setara Institute Executive Director Halili Hasan emphasized that the case of pouring hard water on Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS) Andrie Yunus must be fully revealed.

Halili's statement was made in response to the steps taken by the Polda Metro Jaya which had revealed the initials of two suspected perpetrators and the TNI Military Police Center (Puspom) which also stated that it had detained four personnel suspected of being involved in the case of pouring hard water.

"We must dare to ask academically, is this the act of a rogue individual or is it part of the chain of command?" said Halili in a written statement reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 19.

He said the intimidation of civilians, including attacks on human rights activists, was a form of weakening democracy. For this reason, the case involving Andrie Yunus must be revealed to the end.

At the same time, Halili argued that an independent fact-finding team (TPF) should be formed. The existence of an independent TPF is important to uncover this case thoroughly.

"Without an independent fact-finding team, law enforcement will only be a sabotage of substantive justice," he said.

Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS) Andrie Yunus was attacked by an unknown person in Central Jakarta on Thursday (12/3) evening.

The incident occurred shortly after Andrie completed recording a broadcast at the Indonesian Legal Aid Institute (YLBHI) Foundation Office discussing the topic of militarism and the trial of the TNI Law.

In its development, the Polda Metro Jaya has revealed the initials of two suspected perpetrators of spraying hard water against Andrie Yunus.

"We can inform you that the two people we showed earlier are from one Polri data, one initial BHC, and one initial MAK," said Director of Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner of Police Iman Imanuddin at a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday (18/3).

On the other hand, the TNI Military Police Center (Puspom) stated that it had detained four personnel for alleged involvement in the case.

The commander of the TNI Puspom, Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto, previously said that the four personnel with the initials NDP, SL, BWH, and ES were detained at the TNI Puspom for further investigation.

"We convey that all four suspected perpetrators are members of the Denma BAIS (Strategic Intelligence Agency Headquarters Detachment) of the TNI. So, it's not from any unit, but from the Denma BAIS TNI," he said.

Meanwhile, the Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives on Wednesday (18/3) has agreed to form a working committee (panja) to monitor this case.
