Tuesday Night, 1.1 Million Vehicles Leave Jakarta

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk Rivan A. Purwantono said that the flow of vehicles out of Jakarta until Tuesday (17/3) at 22.00 WIB reached 1.1 million vehicles.

"Today at 22.00 WIB, the flow of vehicles out of Jakarta reached 1.1 million or 1,100,000, so it entered the figure of 32 percent of the projection. It has started to increase from previous days," he said at the KM 29 Command Center Post, Cikampek Toll Road, West Java, Tuesday (17/3) evening.

As the flow of vehicles to outside Jakarta increases, he said, Jasa Marga together with the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) implemented a one-way stage for the first time at KM 70 to KM 263 on Tuesday (17/3) afternoon.

His party also predicts that vehicle traffic will increase by 34 percent or 1.2 million vehicles on Tuesday (17/3) evening.

"We ensure that with this one-way stage one, not only the sections that will be prepared for one-way, but also the rest areas on routes A and B are also prepared for travelers to use during this one-way," he said.

PT Jasa Marga recorded the flow of vehicles returning home through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate (GT), Purwakarta, West Java, on Tuesday (17/3) had increased drastically compared to normal days.

Vice President Corporate Secretary & Legal PT Jasa Marga Trans Jawa Tol Ria Marlinda Paalo said that during the first 1 hour, the number of vehicles increased by 201 percent. This figure, he said, is quite high.

"If you look at the sif 1 alone, we have recorded up to 25 thousand vehicles passing through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate towards the east," said Ria.

He said that the number of vehicles crossing the toll gate towards Central Java would continue to increase sharply, especially since there was a traffic engineering policy or one way for a while, which added vehicle capacity.

"So this one-way stage one has made the traffic volume increase a lot," he said.

In addition, he explained that on Tuesday (17/3) afternoon, the number of vehicles passing in one hour amounted to around 5,700 vehicles. Usually, he said, the number of vehicles passing is only around 3,000 vehicles.
