JAKARTA - Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi said the government postponed the dispatch of 8,000 troops who would undergo a peace mission with the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza.

Prasetyo said the delay in sending troops was due to various considerations, one of which was the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.
When asked when the delay would be carried out, Prasetyo could not give certainty.
"Yes, until an undetermined deadline," he said.
Previously, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin ensured that the TNI would send personnel gradually to join the International ISF in the peace mission in Gaza.
"Yes, gradually because the number is large," said Sjafrie at a press conference at the Ministry of Defense's office, Thursday (12/3).
According to Sjafrie, initially the TNI had prepared 20,000 troops to join the ISF. However, based on several considerations, the TNI finally only sent 8,000 troops.
"It turns out that other countries only send a few hundred, a few hundred. So we are ready for 8,000, yes. But the most important thing is that if the situation does not conflict with national interests, we do the work," explained Sjafrie.
Until now, Sjafrie has not been able to confirm when the TNI troops were sent to Gaza.

While waiting for the time to send troops, Sjafrie ensured that the TNI would continue to prepare troops to be ready to be sent at any time.
