JAKARTA - Head of the National Police Traffic Corps Agus Suryonugroho stated that his party would implement a national one-way traffic engineering on Wednesday, March 18, following the prediction of the peak of the Lebaran homecoming flow that occurred on that day.

"I have coordinated with the Minister and the Director of Jasa Marga that the peak of the homecoming flow is estimated to be on March 18. So on March 18, between 10 am and 12 pm, we will implement a national one-way homecoming flow," said Agus at the KM 57A Rest Area Jakarta-Cikampek Toll, Monday, March 16, evening.

The implementation of the one-way system nationwide was carried out after coordination with various parties, including the toll road manager PT Jasa Marga, to anticipate the surge in migrant vehicles which is estimated to increase significantly on the sixth day of the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026.

Agus explained that the implementation of the national one-way was still situational and could change depending on the traffic conditions in the field which were monitored through a vehicle flow counting technology system.

"When it is based on the traffic accounting technology infrastructure, it can be controlled, it may also change to a national one-way or a one-way for the first phase, which of course we will announce later," he said.

He added that the National Police had prepared a number of traffic engineering management scenarios that were dynamic during the homecoming period. The schemes prepared include contraflow, local one way, to national one way.

Based on the results of joint evaluations with various parties, the peak of the homecoming flow is estimated to occur on March 18. However, if the vehicle density parameter has been met earlier, the traffic engineering can be implemented faster.

Agus explained that in the initial phase, the one-way scheme from KM 70 to KM 236 of the Trans Java toll road would be implemented. This scheme is expanded compared to the previous year which was only implemented up to KM 188.

"If there is still congestion, the scheme will be immediately extended to KM 414," he said.

Regarding the possibility of implementing the national one-way scheme during the return flow, Agus said that until now there has been no decision because traffic conditions are still being monitored.

"We will see the reverse flow later. However, until now the traffic flow is quite under control," he said.
