PALEMBANG - The Palembang Police Narcotics Unit arrested three suspected drug dealers in several different locations in Palembang City, South Sumatra, in less than 36 hours on March 12-14, 2026.

Head of the Narcotics Unit of the Palembang Police, Kompol Faisal P. Manalu, said that the three suspects who were arrested came from different backgrounds, namely a daily laborer, a student, and a housewife.

From the disclosure, the police confiscated two types of narcotics, namely methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana with a total weight of more than 46 grams.

"In less than 36 hours we managed to uncover three different cases with two different types of narcotics. This shows a pattern of drug circulation that is increasingly diverse," said Faisal in Palembang, Antara, Sunday, March 15.

The first case was revealed in the Jakabaring area on Friday around 07.00 WIB.

Unit 1 Narcotics Unit officers arrested the suspect with the initials D (47), a daily laborer who lives in Lorong Setia, Kelurahan 8 Ulu.

From the results of the search, the police found 83 packages of ready-to-use methamphetamine with a gross weight of about 17.3 grams stored in a sling bag belonging to the suspect.

Previously, the police also secured a student with the initials MIT (22) in the Sako area on Thursday around 23.00 WIB.

From the suspect's hands, officers seized 24 packages of synthetic marijuana or synthetic tobacco with a gross weight of around 17.15 grams.

Some of the evidence was found in the suspect's hand, while the rest was stored in a shoulder bag in his bedroom.

The next arrest operation was carried out in the Plaju area on Saturday around 10.00 WIB.

During the operation, the police arrested a housewife with the initials SSL (50) who was suspected of playing a role as a drug dealer.

Officers found 13 packets of methamphetamine with a gross weight of 12.13 grams as well as a digital scale and a number of empty plastic clips that were suspected of being used to package narcotics.

"In total, from these three disclosures, we seized 96 packages of methamphetamine with a gross weight of around 29.43 grams and 24 packages of synthetic marijuana with a gross weight of 17.15 grams," said Faisal.

Currently, investigators are still developing to uncover the network of narcotics suppliers who are suspected to be above the three suspects.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Police, Nandang Mu'min Wijaya, emphasized that the police would continue to tighten supervision of the circulation of narcotics, including new types of drugs such as synthetic marijuana which have begun to appear in the South Sumatra region.

"These three disclosures in 36 hours show that the police will not give space for the drug network to develop in the South Sumatra region," he said.
