JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka received researcher Rismon Sianipar at the Vice President's Palace on Friday morning. The meeting was closed and ended with a familiar atmosphere after Rismon apologized for the controversy over the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia's diploma.

Based on monitoring at the location, Rismon, accompanied by his lawyer, arrived at the Vice Presidential Palace around 10.00 WIB.

The meeting between Gibran and Rismon lasted for about 45 minutes at the Vice President's Office. After that, the two left the room and greeted the media who were waiting at the location.

Gibran, wearing a dark blue suit and a white shirt, appeared to have a brief conversation with Rismon before shaking hands and hugging him.

"Thank you, thank you. Anyway, we are sisters. That's it, there's nothing else," said Gibran, Antara, Friday, March 13.

In addition, Gibran also gave a large parcel to Rismon which is known to come from Balige, North Sumatra.

"This, I want to go home," said Gibran while handing over the package.

Rismon was previously a suspect for allegedly spreading information regarding the alleged fake diploma of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo.

He then apologized and clarified through the Balige Academy YouTube channel which was uploaded on Wednesday (11/3).

In his clarification, Rismon said that he had found a number of new findings that he was responsible for scientifically and academically, including regarding the authenticity of Jokowi's diploma.

According to him, the study objects such as emboss and watermark on the diploma show consistency that supports the authenticity of the document.

On that occasion, Rismon also apologized to Jokowi and the public for the previous polemics.

"Yes, of course, I also apologize to the public, especially to related parties such as Mr. Joko Widodo. That is the responsibility of a researcher who must be independent," he said.

In a written statement received in Jakarta, Gibran considered Ramadan to be a good momentum to forgive each other and strengthen the brotherhood.

"Ramadan is a very good month to forgive each other and to reweave the bonds of brotherhood," said Gibran.

He also appreciated Rismon's willingness to provide clarification and review his previous statement to the public. According to Gibran, this step reflects maturity in democratic life.
