JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung proposed the construction of three Waste Power Plant (PLTS) facilities to strengthen the waste processing system in Jakarta.

The proposal was conveyed in a coordination meeting with the central government regarding waste management in Bantargebang STP.

Pramono explained that the three locations proposed for the construction of the PLTS were in Bantargebang, Tanjungan in North Jakarta, and the Sunter area.

"DKI Jakarta will officially propose three PLTSa. The first is in Bantargebang, the second in Tunjungan (North Jakarta), the third is in Sunter," said Pramono in Central Jakarta, Thursday, March 12.

He explained that each facility was designed to have a different waste processing capacity. The Bantargebang PLTS is projected to be able to process around 3,000 tons of waste per day, consisting of 2,000 tons of new waste and 1,000 tons of old waste taken from the Bantargebang dump.

Meanwhile, the planned PLTS in Tanjungan will be focused on processing new waste with a capacity of around 2,000 tons per day. As for the processing facility in Sunter, it is projected to have a capacity of around 2,500 tons of waste per day.

Pramono assessed that the existence of these three facilities, coupled with the operation of the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) waste processing facility in Rorotan, will help reduce the burden of managing Jakarta's waste, which has been relying on Bantargebang.

"So for waste in Jakarta, if this PLTSa is on the road and the road is being repaired, there are approximately 6,500 to 7,000 per day of waste that will be contained," he explained.

"Then Bantargebang is reduced every day by 1,000, I believe this will also reduce the volume in Bantargebang. That's what we will do," continued Pramono.
