KPK to Coordinate with PKH Task Force on the PT Mineral Trobos Mine Case Owned by David Glen Oei

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) plans to coordinate with the Forest Area Control Task Force (Satgas PKH) regarding the handling of mining cases in North Maluku Province (Malut).

This was conveyed by the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, because the PKH Task Force sealed the operational area of PT Mineral Trobos. The coordination was carried out because the KPK was investigating alleged corruption related to mining permits in Malut which had ensnared the former Governor of Malut, Abdul Ghani Kasuba (AGK) and Muhaimin Syarif (MS) alias Ucu.

"So of course we will communicate and coordinate. Because here there is also a Kedeputian Korsup to see if the case there is the same as the one handled here. If the case is different, yes, we can go in parallel. There is a way, then here the case is still going on," Asep told reporters quoted on Thursday, March 12.

The KPK will see and refer to the rules if the case being handled is the same as the one being investigated by the PKH Task Force. "If the case is the same, of course we will see," said Asep.

"There are rules that regulate. Like if it's ever handled here, it's handled there, but the sprindik (investigation order) first. For example, in another APH, yes, we will push like that," continued the former KPK Investigation Director.

The KPK previously ensured that it would continue to investigate and complete the bribery case related to the Malut Mining Business Permit Area (WIUP). The alleged involvement of a number of parties continues to be investigated and developed.

The statement was made after the case of bribery in the procurement of goods and services and mining permits in Malut which ensnared Muhaimin Syarif (MS) alias Ucu with a permanent legal force or inkrah even though Abdul Gani Kasuba died on Friday, March 14, 2025.

"Muhaimin Syarif has been sentenced like that. It has been incriminated and then for the nyantol to the country's organizer, to Pak AGK (Abdul Gani Kasuba) the person concerned died. So we are what it's called, we are investigating," said Asep Guntur Rahayu who at that time was still serving as the Director of Investigation of the KPK.

The Ternate District Court panel of judges is known to have found Muhaimin Syarif guilty on December 17, 2024. He was sentenced to 2.8 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 150 million and a substitute imprisonment penalty of 3 months.

The sentence was lower than the demand of the KPK prosecutor who asked the panel of judges to impose a prison sentence of 4 years and a fine of Rp. 200 million and a substitute imprisonment penalty for 5 months.

During the process of reducing the case that ensnared Muhaimin Syarif and AGK, the KPK suspected that AGK received bribes from a number of parties or companies related to WIUP Malut through Muhaimin Syarif. Allegedly one of them is the President Director of PT Nusa Halmahera Mineral, Romo Nitiyudo Wachjo alias Haji Romo.

This entrepreneur has been summoned by the KPK investigators to be examined as a witness. Haji Romo has also been presented to testify in the trial.

In the trial at the Ternate Corruption Court, Haji Romo did not deny giving Rp. 2.5 billion to Thoriq Kasuba, the son of Abdul Gani Kasuba. Haji Romo claimed that the funds were given to help the kos-kosan business in Weda, Central Halmahera as a loan.
