Head of Bappisus Speaks Out about Many TNI at Monas: Eid Security, Not a Special Situation

JAKARTA - Head of the Special Development and Investigation Control Agency (BAPPISUS) Aries Marsudiyanto emphasized that the large number of TNI personnel in the Monas area was related to routine security ahead of Eid al-Fitr, not because of an extraordinary situation.

The statement was made by Aries at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 10, when asked about the presence of a large number of officers in the Monas area.

According to Aries, the deployment of the police ahead of Eid is a normal step to maintain public safety, especially when the homecoming and long holiday traffic starts to move.

"Yes, right, you want to celebrate Eid? You want to celebrate Eid normally, yes, the police will keep it for the safety of the people, so that they can go on vacation to their respective villages in a safe condition," said Aries.

He also said that the readiness of infrastructure had been improved together with the relevant ministries to support the smooth mobility of the community during the homecoming season.

When asked whether the 1 alert status was only related to the atmosphere of Eid al-Fitr, Aries answered that it was a routine SOP. He said that to maintain the atmosphere so that the public could carry out the Lebaran holiday safely and orderly.
