President Prabowo Holds 5 Meetings in Hambalang, From STEM Campus to Lebaran Homecoming

BOGOR - President Prabowo Subianto held five consecutive meetings with a number of ministers of the Red and White Cabinet at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, Sunday, March 8, 2026. From noon to evening, the meeting discussed a wide agenda: the construction of a new campus, the situation in the Middle East, Palestinian students, to the readiness for Lebaran homecoming.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said President Prabowo summoned several ministers to report on the development of strategic issues that were considered urgent, both domestically and globally.

"On Sunday afternoon to evening, President Prabowo Subianto held 5 different meetings by calling several ministers of the Red and White Cabinet at the Hambalang residence, Bogor, West Java, March 8, 2026," Teddy said in a written statement.

One of the main discussions was the construction of 10 new campuses focused on STEM and medical education. Prabowo also asked for a report on efforts to increase the competitiveness of state universities so that they can compete globally and expand cooperation with world-renowned universities.

"The development of 10 new campuses is related to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and medical education," said Teddy.

At the same time, Prabowo also highlighted geopolitical developments in the Middle East. According to Teddy, the issue was discussed because it was considered to have broad implications for the global and regional situation.

Another topic on the meeting table was the education program for Palestinian students in Indonesia, especially those studying at the University of Defense. Teddy said, when he was still serving as Minister of Defense in 2022, Prabowo began inviting 20 to 40 Palestinian children to study in Indonesia. Now the number is said to be close to 200 students.

Apart from education and geopolitics, Prabowo also asked for a report on the government's readiness to face the Lebaran homecoming flow.

"Security readiness and smooth homecoming ahead of 10 days leading up to Eid al-Fitr," said Teddy.

The meeting was attended by, among others, the Minister of Education and Technology Brian Yuliarto, the Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, the Deputy Minister of Defense Donny Ermawan, the Rector of the Defense University Anton Nugroho, and the President Director of PT Pindad Sigit Santosa.
