JAKARTA - Cypriots held a demonstration against the presence of a British military base in their country.
The demonstrators demanded the removal of the British military base from the southern coastal island of Cyprus following concerns that the island nation would be dragged into the US-Israeli war against Iran.

The dangerous choices of these rulers further intensify the militarization of the political and social life that already exists in the country," the post continued.
The Cyprus Peace Council considers it important to strengthen anti-war voices, and demands that the Government of Cyprus withdraw support to the imperialists and promote a position of non-involvement in this war.
"It is important to demand the elimination of the British Base and, more directly, the rejection of their participation in war activities," the post continued.
"We support all political voices and forces here, in our wider region, in Europe and around the world that oppose war and promote cooperation between nations and peace. We do not accept Cyprus as a base for war," the Cyprus Peace Council posted.
