Lampung - The Lampung Regional Police (Polda) reviewed the readiness of two supporting or alternative piers to anticipate the surge in vehicles during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming.
"Two alternative piers that have been prepared to anticipate the surge in vehicles for travelers, namely the Sumur Makmur Abadi (SMA) Pier and the PT Bandar Bakau Jaya (BBJ) Pier, we check their readiness when needed," said Lampung Police Chief Inspector General Helfi Assegaf as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 5.
He said that the two piers were prepared as additional crossing facilities that could be operationalized at any time to help relieve vehicle congestion at Bakauheni Port, South Lampung Regency during the peak homecoming flow.
"Bakauheni Port is one of the crucial points in the national homecoming flow. Therefore, we ensure that all preparations ranging from security, traffic engineering to public services have been prepared to the maximum," he said.
He also said that the Lampung Police together with a number of stakeholders had prepared various strategic steps to maintain the smooth flow of vehicles to the port.
"One of them is an increase in the number of security personnel, strengthening coordination with port managers, the TNI and local governments, and the implementation of traffic engineering to anticipate vehicle congestion," he said.
In addition, he continued, the Lampung Police also prepared a buffer zone and additional parking lots to accommodate vehicles if there is a surge in the volume of vehicles for pilgrims.
"Polda Lampung will also optimize security posts and service posts for the community and carry out monitoring through CCTV and intensive patrols during the Lebaran homecoming and return flow," he said.
