Anies Baswedan's Dreams Until The End Of The Year: Add 101 Km Of Bike Tracks, Add 10 Percent Of Parking Area

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan admitted that he would continue to work on the 101-kilometer bicycle path until the end of 2021. He said the bicycle lane was made so that residents could cycle safely.

"The current total bicycle lanes are 63 kilometers. Then this year there will be an additional 101 kilometers. So, hopefully by the end of the year we will have 170 km of bicycle lanes," said Anies at City Hall, Central Jakarta.

In addition, Anies asked building managers in DKI to have an obligation to provide bicycle parking spaces of at least 10 percent of the available parking spaces specifically for bicycles.

"We also recommend that a place to rinse be prepared. Thus, making it easier for workers who choose to go to work using the bicycle, there is comfort because when they arrive there are parking facilities and other supporting facilities," he said.

Furthermore, Anies admitted that he wanted to invite his citizens to make the habit of cycling as a transportation activity, not just sports. This is because the DKI Provincial Government has provided various facilities for cyclists.

"We from the government side have prepared the infrastructure, the bicycle lanes, and even now there are permanent bicycle lanes. God willing, that way we will all become healthier and the city will automatically be healthier," he said.

Separately, Head of the DKI Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that the DKI Provincial Government has a target to build a bicycle lane with a total length of 578.8 kilometers for the next nine years.

"There is a plan to develop bicycle lanes from 2019 to 2030 along 578.8 kilometers," said Syafrin, some time ago.

During his tenure, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan realized a 63-kilometer bicycle path in 2019. The route that was created was prioritized on roads that were subject to the current odd-even policy. The width of the path is 1.25 meters.
