Bali Immigration Deport 3 Iraqi Foreigners Using Fake Passports

JAKARTA - The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in Badung Regency, Bali, deported a family consisting of three foreign nationals from Iraq for being caught using a fake passport from Belgium.

"We tested it in the immigration forensic laboratory so that it was detected as a fake," said Head of Immigration Ngurah Rai Bugie Kurniawan, Tuesday, March 3.

The disclosure was thanks to the ingenuity of officers who suspected the profile of the foreign national, along with the passport documents of three foreign nationals who were husband and wife and their toddler child, shortly after landing at Ngurah Rai Airport on Saturday (28/2) at 21.50 WITA.

They boarded Emirates Airlines EK-368 from Dubai, which at that time had an open airspace because the Middle East conflict had not yet spread.

The three were then taken to the detention room at the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in Jimbaran, Badung Regency for investigation.

Based on the results of the Ngurah Rai Immigration examination, they admitted that they used a fake passport to be able to visit countries in Europe because Iraqi passports are difficult to enter the Blue Continent.

Then, from the results of searching the immigration data center system and the international security network, the three of them were also not included in the check list or the Interpol list.

After being detained for three days and completing the examination and financial readiness, the three Iraqi foreign nationals were then deported through Ngurah Rai Airport to Kuala Lumpur.

Ngurah Rai Immigration will increase surveillance following the modus operandi of foreign nationals, which is a warning following the conflict in the Middle East.

"This could very well happen in the future as a form of massive exodus of citizens from conflict-ridden countries in the Middle East to enter other countries that are considered safe in various ways," he added.
