JAKARTA - The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that 11 Iranian ships operating in the Gulf of Oman had been destroyed.

"Two days ago, the Iranian regime had 11 ships in the Gulf of Oman. Today, they have zero," CENTCOM wrote on the X social media platform, as reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Tuesday, March 3.

CENTCOM said Iran has disrupted and attacked international shipping in the Gulf of Oman for decades. The command also pledged to continue to defend maritime freedom of navigation.

"Those days are over," he added.

Meanwhile, Iran did not confirm the losses.

The CENTCOM announcement came after US President Donald Trump on Sunday said nine Iranian naval vessels had been sunk, including several he described as "relatively large and important".

Trump later updated the number of ships he meant to 10 on Monday. In addition, Trump also said that the Iranian naval headquarters had been "largely destroyed."

This naval operation is part of a joint US-Israeli military operation that began on Saturday (28/2).

The military operation has killed a number of senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Gulf states hosting US military assets.
