Cimahi - The Cimahi City Government (Pemkot) in West Java has temporarily stopped the operation of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) following the alleged poisoning that befell dozens of students and one teacher.

The Mayor of Cimahi, Ngatiyana, in his statement in Cimahi, Friday, emphasized that the operation of SPPG was not allowed to run temporarily until the investigation was completed for a proactive step.

"While it is stopped, it is not operational, it is first dismissed, it cannot be operational," he said.

He explained that the 43 poisoning victims were students of Taman Kanak-Kanak (TK), Elementary School (SD), to Middle School (SMP), as well as a teacher.

All victims have received maximum treatment at three hospitals, including 33 patients at the Cibabat Regional General Hospital (RSUD) with four being treated, 22 have returned home, and seven are still under observation.

In addition, five patients at Mitra Hospital with three being treated and two returning home and five patients at Dustira Hospital with four being treated and one returning home.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Cimahi City Health Office, Mulyati, added that the results of the interim investigation said the victim ate the menu after it was distributed from the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), and was consumed during the fasting hours.

"There is food from SPPG and some are eaten after opening and for small children, perhaps some are eaten at 11 or 12 o'clock in the afternoon," he said.

He said dozens of students experienced symptoms of poisoning, such as vomiting and dizziness, so they were taken to health facilities after consuming the menu.

"On average, it is vomiting, nausea and dizziness," he added.

He explained that the SPPG which produces 2,662 packages of MBG menus does not yet have a Certificate of Public Hygiene (SLHS), although laboratory tests on samples of water, food, beverages, and eating utensils as a requirement for issuing SLHS have been carried out.

"Laboratory results have come out and are negative, which means it is safe and meets the requirements for SLHS, but the certificate has not been issued," he said.

His party said that the SLHS had not been issued because SPPG had not completed supporting documents, such as a request letter, a plan or layout of facilities, and a decision document from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
