Kemenhut Checks the Legality of 1,085 Round Logs in the Kapuas River

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) is following up and checking the legality of 1,085 logs that were seen in the Kalimantan river and have identified that the logs are in the Bajuh Village area, Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan.

Head of the Kalimantan Regional Law Enforcement Center (Gakkum) Leonardo Gultom explained that at the location of the raft raft, two round wooden rafts were found, based on information from the wood pullers, which came from PT GM and PT PNT, which are holders of permits to use forests (PBPH) operating in Kapuas Regency, especially in Mandau Telawang District.

"Currently, the Forestry Gakkum has secured the round log rafts in the Kapuas River, then the team has coordinated with the X Palangka Raya Regional BPHL to check the physical suitability of the wood with the information contained in the document of the Certificate of Validity of Wood Forest Results (SKSHHK)," he said. reported by ANTARA, Friday, February 27.

"If there is found to be a violation, the PPNS Gakkum Forestry will conduct an investigation in accordance with applicable laws and regulations," he continued.

Leonardo explained that the wood was transported from the Antara Wood Storage (TPK) in Mendaun Village, Mandau Telawang District, with the amount of wood transported from PT GM being 305 logs and from PT PNT being 780 logs, all of which were round logs from the meranti type group.

On the round log, a barcode label PT GM and PT PNT was found. The transportation of the round log raft was accompanied by SKSHHK.

Leonardoo said that at present the round log raft was secured by officers from the Kalimantan Regional Forestry Gakkum Office on the Kapuas River in the Bajuh Village area.

The security of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Politics itself was carried out in order to count and determine the type of wood by the Sustainable Forest Management Office for Region X Palangka Raya to check the physical suitability of the wood with the information contained in the SKSHHK document accompanying the transportation.

If during the check there are violations related to the legality of wood documents, legal enforcement will be taken against the PBPH.
