Like Jokowi, Ganjar Pranowo Also Appeared Three Years Before The Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Executive Director of Indonesian Presidential Studies (IPS) Jakarta Nyarwi Ahmad analyzed the phenomenon of Ganjarist, a volunteer supporting the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate in the 2024 General Election.

"There are four things that we can read behind this phenomenon", said Nyarwi to VOI, Thursday, June 3.

First, the current support for Ganjar Pranowo to participate in the 2024 presidential election is getting stronger and more real.

On the one hand, according to him, this phenomenon further emphasizes that public support for Ganjar's figure does not only come from ordinary voters. As is often photographed and conveyed by several survey institutions.

"However, this support also comes from middle-class community groups with great potential for transformation into organic volunteers. And it is not impossible, volunteer groups like this will continue to emerge in the coming months", Nyarwi explained.

Although the presidential election is still around three years from now, this trend is certainly not new. "We have seen the same thing in the phase of Jokowi's emergence, as the 2014 presidential candidate", he said.

Second, when the volunteers declared themselves as Ganjarists, they also confirmed themselves as Ganjar Fans Club.

"This shows that Ganjar, as a politician, personally has a fairly strong electoral magnetic power and is seen as a potential presidential candidate to advance in the upcoming 2024 presidential election", said the lecturer at the Department of Communication Studies at Gajah Mada University (UGM).

Third, the declaration made by the volunteers also emphasized that Ganjar had an interesting character or personality. The governor of Central Java for the two terms was seen as capable of offering an innovative working model and developing an impressive style of political communication.

"Ganjar's innovations in political communication with various types of social media have, to a certain extent, succeeded in encouraging the birth of this Ganjarist", he said.

Fourth, the support from Ganjarist volunteers proves that the level of public or popular support that has been portrayed by several survey institutions is not an empty message.

"The support is real, one of which we can see through these Ganjarist volunteers", he explained.

Nyarwi said that the declaration made by the volunteers seemed to want to emphasize that Ganjar is a figure who has the potential to become a presidential candidate in 2024 and has the support of 'genuine or pure electability from the people.

"In the perspective of political marketing, the support from the ranks of volunteers, such as this Ganjarist, of course, has a positive impact on Ganjar Pranowo", he said.

According to Nyarwi, Ganjar's electability expansion could also expand, not only in Java.

It's not even Ganjar's level of popularity and electability that has the potential to increase. However, Ganjar's bargaining power as one of the potential 2024 presidential candidates could also become 'more expensive'.

"If this kind of support continues to flow, Ganjar will shine even more", said Nyarwi.

However, according to Nyarwi, Ganjar must also be more careful in responding to the demands of the volunteers.

"This is where Ganjar's loyalty to PDIP and party leaders are being tested. In the midst of these conditions, Ganjar needs to continue to show himself as a good 'party official'", he explained.

Ganjar, he added, also needs to maximize the quality of internal political communication with PDIP cadres and also the PDIP DPP.

"Ganjar's ability to manage these two things will determine the extent to which he has a chance to be nominated in the upcoming 2024 presidential election", said Nyarwi Ahmad.

Previously, the volunteers who were members of Ganjarist agreed that Ganjar Pranowo was the best figure who could replace President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

“We have agreed to carry Mr. Ganjar Pranowo as one of the nation's best sons who are the most compatible who can continue what Mr. Jokowi has done. This is the time, meaning there must be fresher candidates, more capable, compatible with Mr. Jokowi", said Ganjarist General Chair, Mazdjo Pray, at a press conference at Neo+ Hotel, South Jakarta, Tuesday, June 1.

Mazdjo also emphasized that Ganjarist was formed not at Ganjar's request, but the initiative of the volunteers.
