MALANG - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Regional Operation 8 Surabaya has mitigated landslides on the Malang area line to support the operational security of the 2026 Lebaran Transportation.
Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Regional Operation 8 Surabaya Mahendro Trang Bawono said that his party had checked the slope stability to the drainage condition, starting from KM 25+700 Sengon-Lawang road plot or the Pasuruan-Malang crossing to the empalsemen area at Malang Station, in Malang City, East Java.
"What we are doing in order to increase vigilance against landslides and flooding due to high rainfall, so that the 2026 Eid Transportation can run safely, comfortably, and under control," said Mahendro as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 26.
The mitigation process carried out along the Sengon-Malang line and the Malang Station embankment was also accompanied by steps to check the condition of the railway tracks.
In addition to the Sengon-Lawang crossing, his party also monitored the readiness of infrastructure at three crossings that fall into the special attention area (dapsus) category.
The three lanes are KM 49+000 to KM 49+200 in the Blimbing-Malang plot, KM 70+500 to KM 72+300 of the Kepanjen-Ngebrug road plot, and KM 87+400 to KM 87+900 of the Pohgajih-Kesamben road plot.
He emphasized that a series of efforts that have been carried out are indeed a priority, so that his party can take quick steps in determining the efforts to overcome and handle train disruptions caused by natural and technical factors.
Through this anticipatory step, KAI Daop 8 Surabaya hopes that railway travel operations in the Malang and surrounding areas can run smoothly without obstacles.
"Thus, the public can carry out the homecoming journey safely to their destination," he said.
KAI Daop 8 also appealed to all officers in the field to continue to increase vigilance and carry out intensive monitoring of track conditions, especially during the rainy season which has the potential to increase the risk of landslides and waterlogging around the tracks.
"Railway travel safety remains the top priority in every aspect of the company's operations," he said.
