JAKARTA - Kodam XVII Cendrawasih said Serda Hamdani, a member of Deninteldam XVII/Cendrawasih, was killed by KKB while carrying out a monitoring duty in the area in Nabire, Central Papua.

The head of the XVII Cendrawasih Navy, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Tri Purwanto, explained that one of the victims of the attack and arson carried out by the KKB at the Security Post belonging to PT Kristalin Eka Lestari (KEL) in Legari District, Makimi, was a TNI member who served in Denintel Kodam XVII Cendrawasih.

"The late Serda Hamdani who was a member of Deninteldam XVII/Cendrawasih who carried out the task of monitoring the area in Nabire," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 25.

In the incident that occurred on Saturday (21/2), in addition to the deceased Serda Hamdani, there was also one civilian's body, namely Aksay Sandika Moho, an employee of PT KEL.

The body of Serda Hamdani, has been buried in Maros on Monday (23/2), South Sulawesi.

The location that was targeted for burning was not a TNI post, but a security post belonging to PT Kristalin Eka Lestari (KEL) which was called by the local community as Palang Post, because it was located outside the PT KEL area.

"The post is not a TNI post, but a company security post," said Lt. Col. Inf Tri.

Regarding information about the weapons seized during the incident, Lt. Col. Inf Tri said that Kodam XVII/Cendrawasih was still conducting further investigations.

"Currently, Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih is still conducting an investigation to determine whether there are weapons that were also seized in the incident," he said.
