PALEMBANG - The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) is investigating the discovery of an unidentified human skeleton on the banks of the Musi River, specifically at the pier of PT Sinar Alam Permai (SAP), Mariana Village, Banyuasin I District, Banyuasin Regency, yesterday Monday.

Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Police, Kombes Pol. Nandang Mukmin Wijaya, explained that the skeleton was first found by a driver of a rice-carrying car who was going to take a bath in the river. The witness saw a corpse stranded and immediately reported it to the company's security officer.

The report was then forwarded to the personnel of the V-1034 Muara Kumbang Police Boat belonging to the Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) of the South Sumatra Police. Police personnel along with the Palembang Basarnas team immediately went to the location to evacuate the findings.

Based on the initial examination at the crime scene, officers found a human skeleton that was no longer intact, namely only leaving body parts from the waist to the feet. Officers also noted the characteristics of the clothes that were still attached to the skeleton, namely blue jeans and red shorts.

"The human skeleton has been evacuated to the Command Headquarters of Ditpolairud. After coordinating with the Subdit Gakkum, the skeleton was taken to Bhayangkara Hospital Palembang to undergo a visum et repertum (VER) for the purpose of identification," said Nandang, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 25.

The South Sumatra Police appealed to the public who felt that they had lost family members with the characteristics of the clothes to immediately report to the South Sumatra Police's Ditpolairud or to visit the Bhayangkara Hospital, Palembang to speed up the identification process.
