JAKARTA - The West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police has named a head of a pesantren in the Praya Timur area, Central Lombok Regency, a suspect in a case of sexual violence (TPKS).
The determination of the suspect with the initials MTF was revealed based on the statement of the victim's legal assistant, Joko Jumadi, from the Mataram University Legal Consultation and Assistance Agency (BKBH).
"It's a suspect (MTF), there's already been a call for the suspect, but the person concerned is not present, the reason is sick," said Joko as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 24.
Joko explained the status of MTF as a suspect according to the letter of progress of the investigation received from the Directorate of Investigation for the Protection of Women and Children and Prevention and Handling of Human Trafficking (PPA-PPO) of the NTB Police.
Based on the letter, Joko said that investigators had named MTF as a suspect by applying Article 6C of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes (TPKS).
Joko said that during the investigation at the police, MTF had tried to offer peace with the victim. With the offer, MTF's status as a suspect emerged.
Regarding the designation of MTF as a suspect, the Head of Public Relations of the NTB Police, Kombes Police Mohammad Kholid, has not issued an official statement.
Dirres PPA-PPO Polda NTB KomisarisBesar Polisi Ni Made Pujawati sebelumnya pada Jumat (20/2), mengatakan bahwa pihaknya menangani kasus ini di tahap penyidikan.
In this stage, the police strengthened the evidence from the examination of witnesses, victims from among the female students, including the alleged perpetrator who is the head of the pesantren.
Other efforts were made by visiting the boarding school for the needs of processing the crime scene (TKP) and conducting a visa for the victim.
The NTB Police handled this case due to the transfer from the Central Lombok Police. The report was received after the legal assistance from the Unram BKBH to the victim.
BKBH Unram first received reports from three women. They claimed to have received sexual violence from the accused while still holding the status of santriwati at the pesantren.
BKBH Unram noted that there were more than three women who were victims. They came to BKBH Unram and claimed to be victims of the same perpetrator.
In the report of the first three victims received by the Unram BKBH in mid-January 2026, their desire to come to report was because they were furious when they heard the reported audio recording which was widely circulated through social media.
In the audio recording, one of the ustazah at the pesantren pondok was heard claiming to be a victim of intercourse from the perpetrator.
The reported response was also heard in the audio recording. He avoided the ustazah's confession and forced the victim to swear "Nyatoq".
In the Sasak tribe tradition, "Nyatoq" is like a pocong oath, the victim is asked to swear and if he lies he will experience bad luck.
BKBH Unram has collected evidence of the audio recording by also making it a complete piece of evidence at the police.
