GMNI Surgery Disorientation Ministry in the Middle of Political Ambitions

Public Discussion with the theme "Disorientation of Ministry Functions: Between Political Ambitions and National Interests" in Jakarta, Wednesday, February 18, 2026

JAKARTA - The Central Leadership Council of the Indonesian National Student Movement (DPP GMNI) held a Public Discussion themed "Disorientation of Ministry Functions: Between Political Ambitions and National Interests" in Jakarta.

This discussion is aimed at the ministry to focus on the implementation of the work program that has been announced. Not just used as a stepping stone for political ambitions of power.

In the discussion moderated by Ainun Samidah, the Head of the Sarinah Movement Sector of the GMNI DPP, the speakers present were Political Observer Ray Rangkuti, Social Observer Hizkia Darmayana, Head of the Agriculture and Fisheries Sector of the GMNI DPP Ferdinando Saferi, and Head of the Inter-institutional Relations Sector of the GMNI DPP Adi Suherman Tebwaiyanan.

Ray Rangkuti on that occasion stated that the relationship between the government, of which the ministers are included, and the people has been regulated in the constitution (UUD 1945).

In the context of Islam, there is Fiqh Siyasah which regulates the intricacies of state management based on the principles of Islamic law to realize the welfare of the people. One of the things regulated in fiqh siyasah is the relationship between leaders and people.

"Well, in this case, the relationship that should be built is the total service of the government to the people as their master, because in democracy the people are the highest sovereign," Ray said in his statement, Saturday, February 21.

Meanwhile, Social Observer Hizkia Darmayana stated that the disorientation of the ministry was caused by a clash between ethical-ideological perspectives and practical-realistic perspectives among ministers.

The clash occurred because the political interests of ministers sometimes conflicted with the ethical values contained in Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.

"The clash was apparent when there were policies or statements by ministers that were not in line with ethical values in Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, as the basis and constitution of our country," said Hizkia.

On the same occasion, the Chairman of the Agriculture and Fisheries Sector of the GMNI DPP, Ferdinando Saferi, revealed that the ministry's problems have existed since ancient times.

The problem usually arises when the policies of the ministers do not bring benefits to the people.

"The question is when the problem arises repeatedly from time to time, such as when there are ministers who are not productive, so that the ministry experiences disorientation of functions. That is what we need to examine in this discussion," he said.
