Semanggi Park Revitalized, Will There Be Parking for Visitors?

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inaugurated the groundbreaking for the Semanggi Park revitalization. This park will later become one of the new showcases for Jakarta residents to carry out activities and interact.

Until now, Semanggi Park has no parking space for visitors. Then, will there be an addition to the parking location after revitalization? This was responded by Pramono.

"Is there a parking lot or not? In this park of 6 hectares there is no parking lot," said Pramono at Semanggi Park, South Jakarta, Friday, February 20.

Although there is no special parking area, Pramono assessed that residents who will carry out activities in Semanggi Park after revitalization can park their vehicles in buildings located on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and Jalan Gatot Subroto, especially those around the Semanggi area.

"Where is the parking? Left and right, this will definitely develop, in Thamrin, then later Plaza Semanggi, then at BRI and so on. But what is clear is that there is no parking space here," said Pramono.

Pramono targets the revitalization of Semanggi Park to be completed on the anniversary of the City of Jakarta which touches 500 years. Pramono admitted that the cost of revitalizing this park, a legacy of former DKI Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), requires more than one hundred billion. However, the construction did not use the APBD.

"Hopefully on June 22, 2027, Jakarta will have a new showcase that will be better, which is called Semanggi. This place for its construction costs approximately Rp. 134 billion. That is entirely not from the APBD," said di.

The cooperation scheme is carried out with the private sector as a development partner. As compensation for investment, partners will manage the area for approximately 10 years, plus a construction period of one and a half years in the park with an area of approximately 6 hectares.

"Our partners, they will manage this place for about 10 years, plus the construction of one and a half years, so 11.5 years," he explained.

In addition, Pramono reviewed, the Semanggi area was the idea of the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno, in 1962. Four pieces of clover leaves at that time represented function, connectivity, transformation, as well as aesthetics and life.

This time, he said, the revitalization wants to bring back the idea so that it remains contextual with Jakarta's current needs. The concepts carried include the regeneration of ideas, reconnection, and activation of space (reactivation).

"This place will be connected to be easier, better, in a park of approximately 6 hectares," said Pramono.

"But most importantly, I have conveyed that this does not interfere with existing traffic. Because after all, this is the main transportation in Jakarta, the main showcase of Jakarta," he continued.
