Friday Morning Paralyzed, Floods, Plus Busy Roads to Transjakarta Stopping Route

JAKARTA - Heavy rain that has hit Jakarta since Thursday evening, February 19, until Friday morning, February 20, triggered flooding in a number of areas and roads. Waterlogging caused long traffic jams and impacted the operations of PT Transjakarta services, ranging from delays to the temporary suspension of a number of routes.

One of the affected points is on Jalan Daan Mogot KM 13, Cengkareng, West Jakarta. The area was reported to be flooded with water up to 20 to 30 centimeters. The puddle covered part of the road and hindered traffic flow from Pesing to Cengkareng.

As a result of this condition, congestion is inevitable. Dozens of motorbikes were reported to have broken down after daring to break through the flood. A number of two-wheeled vehicles had engine failure due to water entering the vehicle components.

The impact of the flood was also felt on public transportation services. PT Transjakarta said that the 13-route corridor service, Puri Beta-Petukangan, experienced a significant delay on Friday morning due to flooding around Jalan Swadarma and traffic congestion in the Petukangan area.

Head of the Public Relations and CSR Department of Transjakarta, Ayu Wardhani, said that the travel time for the corridor had increased sharply. "The travel time is currently 1 hour 20 minutes, due to heavy rain and traffic density," said Ayu in Jakarta.

In addition to corridor 13, routes 13B (Puri Beta-Pancoran) and L13E (Puri Beta-Flyover Kuningan) were also delayed due to flooding around Jalan Swadarma.

Not only delays, but also a number of services were temporarily suspended due to the stagnant water that had not receded. Route 1C (Block M - Pesanggrahan) and 8E (Block M - Bintaro Kodam) were stopped due to flooding on Haji Gari Street in both directions.

The JAK 32 (Petukangan-Lebak Bulus) and JAK 49 (Lebak Bulus-Cipulir) microtrans services were also temporarily suspended due to flooding on Bintaro Permai Road (Haji Gari) and Ciledug Raya Road (ITC Cipulir).

Transjakarta also shifted a number of routes. Route 1M (Block M-Meruya) was diverted due to flooding of about 50 centimeters on Jalan Swadarma Raya. Route 5N (Kampung Melayu-Ragunan) was also diverted due to river overflow in the Pasar Kambing lane.

Meanwhile, the JAK 22 Microtrans service (Dwikora-Penas Kalimalang) was shortened due to a 30 to 40 centimeter-deep puddle at Cawang Junction.

Some other Microtrans routes that have been diverted include JAK 27 (Pulogebang-Rorotan), JAK 37 (Cililitan-Condet via Kayu Manis), JAK 40 (Pulogebang-Pasar Modern), JAK 71 (Kampung Rambutan-Pinang Ranti), and JAK 95 (Lebak Bulus-Terminal Pasar Minggu).

Transjakarta appeals to customers to monitor the latest information through the company's official channels and adjust travel plans in line with weather conditions and traffic that are still affected by flooding.
