BANYUWANGI - The Banyuwangi joint search and rescue (SAR) team, East Java, has found a climber who was previously reported missing on Wednesday (18/2), in a safe condition in the cliff area around the Ijen Crater Natural Park.

Head of the Banyuwangi Search and Rescue Office (SAR Office), I Made Oka Astawa, said that climber Muhammad DZikri Maulana (16) from Tamansari Village, Licin District, was found on the second day of the search at around 16.15 WIB.

"Alhamdulillah the victim was found to be safe, but he was weak, and the climber was found in a cliff area at a distance of about 890 meters from the lost location," said Oka Astawa as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, February 19.

After being found, he continued, the joint SAR team immediately carried out an evacuation at 17.50 WIB and the victim was successfully brought down to Paltuding Post, then taken to Licin Health Center to receive medical treatment using an ambulance.

Oka Astawa said the second day of SAR operations for the search for the teenager used thermal drones and jungle rescue equipment.

"Today's SAR operation is in cloudy weather to light rain, but search efforts continue to be maximized with thermal support," he said.
