JAKARTA - The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) has recorded 27 terrorist attack plans that have been successfully thwarted during the period 2023 to 2025. In the same period, the authorities also arrested 230 people related to terrorism funding.

BNPT Enforcement Director Brigjen Pol. Mochamad Rosidi said that the prevention of dozens of attacks was the result of early detection and strengthening of coordination between law enforcement officers.

"In the 2023-2025 period, 27 terrorist attacks were successfully prevented. In addition, 230 people were arrested for providing funding assistance to terrorist groups," said Rosidi, quoted from Antara, Friday, January 13.

He explained that funding was one of the crucial aspects in supporting the operation of the terrorist network. From the BNPT data, there were 16 cases of terrorism funding with various methods of collecting funds that could reach Rp. 5 billion.

According to Rosidi, the pattern of funding terrorism continues to evolve and is adaptive to technological developments. Fundraising is carried out through various means, including the use of digital space.

In addition to taking action against donors, BNPT also recorded hundreds of people who had been prosecuted for terrorism-related activities in the same period. The majority of them are affiliated with the ISIS network.

BNPT assesses that efforts to prevent attacks and cut off funding are two strategic steps in suppressing the potential for terrorist acts in Indonesia, given that funding is a vital element for the continuation of terrorist network activities.
