JAKARTA - Operational vehicles for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program were caught in the Keselamatan Kapuas 2026 operation raid in the legal jurisdiction of the Bengkayang Police, West Kalimantan.

During the inspection, officers found violations in the form of drivers of MBG cars not having a Driver's License (SIM) and vehicle taxes had expired.

"When carrying out a joint raid today, we found one of MBG's operational vehicles. After checking, the driver did not have a driver's license and the vehicle was also found to be tax-free," said Head of the Traffic Unit of the Bengkayang Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sunarly in Bengkayang, Wednesday.

He said that although vehicles were used to support government programs, law enforcement was still carried out in accordance with applicable rules.

According to Sunarly, the action against the MBG car is a form of the police's commitment to upholding traffic safety and order without exception, including government program operational vehicles.

The police chief emphasized the importance of administrative compliance and vehicle eligibility, especially for national programs involving cooperation with third parties or business partners.

"We appeal to all government program implementers who partner with entrepreneurs to ensure the validity of vehicles, from STNK to taxes, and drivers must have a driver's license. This is important to maintain safety and reduce the risk of traffic accidents," he said.

He added that the enforcement of the law was not intended to hinder the implementation of the MBG program, but as a preventive effort to prevent potential accidents on the road.

In addition to administrative control of vehicles, Sunarly also presented traffic accident data in Bengkayang Regency which became the basis for the implementation of the Kapuas Safety Operation 2026.

In 2025, a total of 102 traffic accidents were recorded in the region.

"Meanwhile, at the beginning of 2026, especially in January, there have been eight traffic accidents with six people dead," he said.

"This data is a warning for all road users to be more disciplined in traffic and complete vehicle documents," he added.

The Keselamatan Kapuas 2026 operation aims to increase public awareness and compliance with traffic rules while reducing the number of fatal accidents.

"We from the Bengkayang Police urge all institutions, both government and private, to ensure the eligibility of vehicles and the completeness of operational personnel administration before using them on the highway," he said.
