SUNGAILIAT - The joint SAR team of Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands found a resident of Mendo Village, West Mendo District, on behalf of Jauhari (44) in a dead condition in the Limbung River, allegedly due to being bitten by a crocodile.
The Secretary of the Bangka Regency BPBD, Bambang, in Sungailiat, said that the joint SAR team managed to find the victim in a dead condition at 08.40 WIB.
"Based on the witness's statement to the team on the ground, at 18.30 WIB, Tuesday (10/2), the victim was allegedly attacked by a crocodile while looking for bait to fish in the Limbung river," explained Bambang as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 11.
He said that on Tuesday (10/2) the joint team, assisted by the victim's friends and local villagers, tried to find the victim, but it was not successful.
The search process, he said, continued on Wednesday, using two fishing boats. Previously, the team had difficulty in the search because it was blocked by the many tree trunks covering the river flow.
"The condition of the body when found had several wounds on the waist due to crocodile bites," he said.
The joint SAR team involved, among others, personnel from the Kansar Pangkalpinang Rescuer, BPBD Bangka Regency officers, police personnel from the Bangka Police, Mendobarat Police, Bhabinkamtibmas Mendo, Babinsa Mendo, Kades Mendo, local villagers, victims' families, SAR Brimob Polda Babel and Laskar Sekaban volunteers.
