JAKARTA - At least 24 people were killed including eight children in a drone attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary on a vehicle carrying a family of refugees in Sudan on Saturday local time.
Citing AFP, the Sudanese Doctors Network said in a statement that the attack took place near the city of Rahad in North Kordofan Province, Sudan.
The victim's vehicle was carrying refugees who had fled the conflict area in Dubeiker. It was also stated in the statement that among the children who were killed were two babies.
The injured victims were taken for treatment in Rahad, an area that also suffers from a shortage of medical supplies like many areas in the Kordofan region.
The Sudanese Doctors Network urged the international community and human rights organizations to "take immediate action to protect civilians and hold the RSF leadership directly accountable for these violations."
There has been no immediate statement from the RSF militia or its rival in this civil war, the Sudanese army, regarding the drone incident that injured and killed civilians.
