JAKARTA - TikTok has denied rumors that the Tokopedia electronic trading platform will be closed and replaced with TikTokShop.
In a written statement received by ANTARA, a TikTok spokesperson stated that the rumor was not true.
"We heard rumors about Tokopedia's future. The rumors are not true. We continue to invest in Tokopedia and Indonesia," he said, Friday, February 6.
A TikTok spokesperson said Tokopedia will continue to operate in full focus on improving the user experience.
Rumors about Tokopedia's closure plan first circulated on the social media platform X.
The @ecommurzyang account is known to often share information about electronic commerce and technology in its uploads, delivering news about the planned closure of the Tokopedia application.

Following rumors about Tokopedia's closure plan, the National Consumer Protection Agency (BPKN) stated that it would monitor the development of the case and coordinate with relevant ministries and institutions to ensure that there were no practices that harmed consumers in the transformation of digital trading platforms.
"Consumers should not be silent. The state is present through BPKN to ensure that the rights of digital consumers are still protected," said BPKN Chairman Mufti Mubaroksaat when contacted on Tuesday (3/2).
