JAKARTA - PLN Distribution Parent Unit (UID) Greater Jakarta signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to strengthen the electricity system in the Thousand Islands Administrative District.

This cooperation is aimed at improving the reliability of electricity supply in the archipelago which is projected to become one of Jakarta's tourism growth centers. This is part of the DKI Provincial Government's efforts to ensure that basic services, especially electricity, reach the outermost areas of Jakarta in a sustainable manner.

DKI Jakarta Provincial Secretary Uus Kuswanto said that electricity is a basic need that determines the quality of life of the Thousand Islands people, as well as supporting public services and local economic activities.

"Reliable electricity in the Thousand Islands is very important to support community activities, public services, and the development of regional potential. Through this cooperation, we hope that the quality of life of the people of the islands can continue to improve," said Uus at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, February 6.

He emphasized that in the future, the Thousand Islands will be positioned as Jakarta's flagship tourist destination. Therefore, the improvement of basic infrastructure, including electricity, is a major prerequisite.

"Because in the future Thousand Islands will become a tourist center, as a global city, of course, we have to improve various existing facilities, so one of them is PLN as a source of energy, this is a good opportunity for the Jakarta Provincial Government to monetize electricity needs on Thousand Islands," said Uus.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya M. Andy Adchaminoerdin stated that PLN is ready to support the development of the Thousand Islands through the strengthening of infrastructure and a more reliable electricity system.

"PLN is committed to providing reliable and sustainable electricity to the archipelago. This cooperation is an important foundation for improving system reliability, as well as supporting the economic growth and tourism of the Thousand Islands," said Andy.

According to him, the availability of stable electricity will have a direct impact on the development of the local community's economy, education, and access to information.

"Of course PLN is aware that the Thousand Islands are tourist destinations, their economic growth will also be high, so electricity is one of the main sources for how to encourage economic growth there," said Andy.

"So with the electricity we have later, whether the electricity mapping there is more reliable, the people there will grow more economically, educationally and also informationally," he continued.
