BPJS Kesehatan emphasized that hospitals should not reject patients who need emergency treatment, including National Health Insurance (JKN) participants in the Fee Recipient (PBI) segment whose membership status is inactive.

"So whatever it is, the JKN participant segment, must not refuse treatment, especially in emergency conditions. This cannot be rejected because it is in accordance with the rules of legislation," said Head of Public Relations BPJS Kesehatan Rizzky Anugerah to reporters in Jakarta, Friday, February 7.

Rizzky emphasized that the ban on refusal applies to all segments of membership in the JKN program, not only PBI participants who are deactivated.

"Not only inactive PBI, but any segment that is in the JKN program," he said.

He explained that the emergency condition is the main priority in health services and should not be hampered by administrative issues of membership. According to him, medical services must be provided first, while the administrative process is completed later according to the applicable provisions.

The confirmation from BPJS Kesehatan is in line with the statement of the Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf. The Minister of Social Affairs emphasized that hospitals or health facilities were prohibited from rejecting BPJS Kesehatan participants in the PBI-JK segment who were deactivated because the membership status could still be reactivated quickly.

"I have coordinated with the Minister of Health and the President Director of BPJS Kesehatan, and there is a solution. In principle, hospitals should not reject patients because this cannot be delayed, especially those who are in emergency," said Saifullah Yusuf.

The Minister of Social Affairs explained that the deactivation of some PBI-JK participants occurred due to data updates, so that membership was transferred to people who were judged to need it more.

The Ministry of Social Affairs ensures that it will continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Health, BPJS Kesehatan, and local governments so that the reactivation process for eligible participants can be carried out quickly.

In any condition, hospitals are still required to provide services to patients who need medical treatment.
