JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei should be "very worried" as Washington increased its military presence in the region.

"I would say he should be very worried, yes, he should be worried," President Trump said in an interview with US television station NBC News, as reported by Al Arabiya and AFP (5/2).

"As you know, they are negotiating with us," he said.

It is known that President Trump has sent US aircraft carriers to the region and has not ruled out new military action, after the US attack on an Iranian nuclear site during the Israeli war against Iran in June.

President Trump also said Iran had eyed a new nuclear site after the US attack.

"They're thinking of starting a new site in another part of the country," President Trump said.

"We know it, I said, if you do that, we will do very bad things to you," he said.

In Iran, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Wednesday that nuclear talks with the US would be held in the capital of Oman, Muscat, on Friday at around 10 a.m.

A US official confirmed that the US-Iran talks will take place in Oman on Friday.
