JAKARTA - Senior British politician, Peter Mandelson, has resigned from the Labour Party. The decision came after Mandelson's name and photo were included in the latest file of the case of the network of sexual offenders of the late Jeffrey Epstein.
Based on Epstein's latest file released by the US Department of Justice (DOJ), Mandelson is suspected of receiving several payments from Epstein in the early 2000s. However, Mandelson did not immediately deny it by claiming that he would check it.
"The allegation that I believe is false, that he made a financial payment to me 20 years ago, and that I have no record or memory of, needs to be investigated by me," read Mandelson's resignation letter addressed to Labour General Secretary Hollie Ridley, quoted by AFP.
"While doing this, I do not want to cause further embarrassment to the Labor Party and therefore I resign from party membership," he added.
He also said he felt "sorry for this."
Bank records released by the DOJ show Epstein transferred a total of USD75,000 in three payments to a bank account associated with Mandelson between 2003 and 2004.
Epstein's latest file also showed vulgar photos of Mandelson wearing only a t-shirt and underwear with a woman whose face had been censored by US authorities.
"I can't remember the location or the woman and I can't think how it happened," Mandelson told the BBC.
This is Mandelson's second black record in Jeffrey Epstein's sex predator network.
The 72-year-old man was previously, in September 2025, fired from his post as British Ambassador (Ambassador) to the United States (US) for allegedly having ties to the Epstein case.
