BMW Sundul Jetour on the Jagorawi Toll Road to Burn, 2 People Injured

JAKARTA - A traffic accident involving two vehicles occurred on the Jagorawi Toll Road KM 31B, Sunday, February 1, 2026. The incident, which took place at around 22.27 WIB, caused two people to suffer minor burns to their hands.

Head of the Jagorawi Toll Road Patrol (PJR) of the Korlantas Polri, Kompol Akhmad Jajuli, explained that the accident involved an electric car, a Jeep brand Jetour with the police number B 1934 AZQ and a BMW car with the police number B 2904 PBU. The accident started when the Jeep Jetour was traveling from Ciawi to Jakarta and was on the left shoulder of the road.

"From behind, the BMW vehicle driving on lane two tried to overtake through the left shoulder. During the maneuver, the BMW hit the right side of the Jeep," Akhmad said in his statement, Tuesday, January 3, 2026.

The collision caused the Jetour car to bounce to the left, hit the guardrail, and then catch fire. The final position of the Jetour vehicle was between lane one and the left shoulder in a charred condition. Meanwhile, the BMW stopped normally in lane two.

As a result of this incident, the driver of the Jetour, initials MRAZN, and his passenger IR suffered minor burns to their hands. Both were declared safe. Meanwhile, the driver of the BMW, initials DP, was not injured.

"The number of victims is two people with minor injuries, minor burns on the hands," said Akhmad.

PJR Jagorawi Toll officers immediately went to the scene to secure the crime scene, record the identity of the driver and vehicle, and evacuate the car using a crane from the Ciawi Pool.

"There is no damage to the toll road facilities," he said.

The case of the accident is now being handed over to the Ciawi Accident Unit for further handling. The provisional suspicion is that the accident occurred due to a lack of anticipation when overtaking another vehicle.

"The factor that affects is less anticipation," he concluded.

This incident was recorded on camera and the video went viral on social media. The moments when the flames engulfed the vehicle were recorded by residents and the video spread widely on social media.

In the video that went viral, the car seemed to be speeding on the toll road. Not long after, another vehicle was seen trying to overtake. The Jetour car was hit, swayed, turned upside down, then returned to the wheel position.

A few seconds later a fire appeared and burned the car. A passenger was seen running out to save himself. The incident occurred on Sunday, February 1, 2026 evening.
