JAKARTA - The founder of DE HMS Consulting, Maulana Sumarlin, assessed that the attitude of the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo who still wants the National Police to be under the direct supervision of the President of the Republic of Indonesia confirms the position of the National Police is currently in accordance with the Indonesian constitutional system.

The reason is that in the Indonesian state, a president holds a mandate directly from the people, so that the loyalty of the National Police to the president is in essence a form of loyalty to public interests. In addition, the National Police is not placed to defend power, but to ensure security, justice, and protection for citizens.

"At this point, the meaning of 'to the point of blood' becomes clear, working without half-heartedness, with full integrity, and with total loyalty to the purpose of service," Maulana said in his statement, Sunday, February 1.

According to him, the meaning emphasizes that the courage of the National Police is not only tested in crisis situations, but also in consistency in carrying out daily duties, serving the public fairly, enforcing the law without discrimination, and maintaining the dignity of every citizen who faces the law.

This view is also in line with President Prabowo Subianto's constitutional thinking regarding the function of the state security institutions. Since before taking office, Prabowo has often emphasized that the TNI and Polri are the main pillars of the state's presence in protecting the people. "In various official forums, he emphasized the importance of professionalism, neutrality, and loyalty of the security institutions to the interests of the nation," he added.

He said that the appeal should be read as a moral and constitutional order that places the National Police as the main instrument of the state in ensuring that the presence of the state is truly felt by the community. The president's great trust in the National Police also has an objective foundation from the increase in public confidence.

Therefore, the call of the national police chief is actually an invitation to shift the center of the Polri's struggle towards the effort to help the head of state in bringing the state to the people. An effort to strengthen steps to protect, care for, and serve every citizen with sincerity.

Within this framework, the dedication of the National Police is no longer measured only by the success of law enforcement, but also by the quality of public services and the extent to which the state is truly present in the daily lives of the community.

In practice, the spirit of struggle must be seen in concrete terms, fast and unbureaucratic services, transparent legal processes, real protection for victims, and a professional and empathetic attitude in every interaction with citizens.

"This is where the 'point of blood exhaustion' becomes a measure of work ethics, to what extent the National Police wants to deploy all its best abilities sincerely and wholeheartedly for the benefit of the people, not for personal, group, or just the image of the institution," said Maulana.
