Referring to Rodriguez, Trump said, "I just spoke to the president of Venezuela and told him we will reopen all commercial airspace over Venezuela."
Trump has instructed the US Department of Transportation and the military to take the necessary steps to reopen the Venezuelan airspace for commercial flights as soon as possible.
Trump also said that US citizens will also be able to travel to Venezuela again and "be safe there."
Rodriguez took over as interim president on January 5 after being sworn in at the National Assembly, following the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in a simultaneous US air raid in the country, according to Venezuelan officials.
