MAKASSAR - The South Sulawesi Police have stopped investigating the case of alleged sexual harassment by the Rector of the State University of Makassar (UNM) Prof. Karta Jayadi who was reported by the victim with the initials Q.

"That's right, the investigation was stopped because it did not meet the elements of the crime reported to the Criminal Investigation Unit," said Head of Public Relations of the South Sulawesi Police, Kombes Pol Didik Supranoto, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 27.

From the information obtained, the termination of the investigation was from the Notification of the Development of the Investigation Results (SP2HP) number B/962/I/RES.2.6/2025/Ditreskrimsus dated January 22, 2026, signed by the Director of the Sulsel Regional Police Ditreskrimsus, Kombes Pol Dedi Supriyadi.

According to him, this case does not have enough evidence so that its handling is stopped.

Although the report was stopped, the Q reporter again reported Karta through a report of suspected sexual violence (TPKS) to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Women and Children Protection (PPA) and the PPO of the South Sulawesi Police.

"(The investigation was stopped) then the reporter will report on the alleged crime of sexual violence to the Ditres PPA and PPO Polda Sulsel," he said.

Separately, the reported legal advisor, Jamil Misbach, confirmed that he had received information that his client's case had been discontinued because it did not meet the elements of a crime as reported by the reporter.

Indeed, from the beginning, he said, the reported case would not meet the elements. Because, it only started from an interpersonal conversation between his client, Prof. Karta Jayadi, and the female reporter with the initials Q.

"Because there is no element of sexual harassment there. We have also reported (Q) defamation since August 2025. Investigators have also checked Q," said Jamil.

Previously, a lecturer at UNM with the initials Q reported Prof. Karta Jayadi for alleged verbal sexual harassment through electronic messages from 2022-2024.

Not only reporting to the police, the reported also reported it to the Inspector General (Itjen) of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) for the relevant treatment.

The results of the search by the Itjen team of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Prof. Karta Jayadi, were deactivated as Rector of UNM. However, his party resisted by reporting back to the South Sulawesi Police with allegations of defamation.
