DENPASAR - The Denpasar City Police, Bali, revealed the origin of a firearm sold by a member of the TNI AD Reserve Component (Komcad) with the initials ASR (34) in Denpasar.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) of the Denpasar Police, Kompol Agus Riwayanto Diputra, said the weapon sold by ASR was a weapon he brought from Lampung to Bali in 2023.
"The perpetrator of the ASR is a resident of Lampung, the person concerned is basically looking for a job. So, he came to Bali to sell firearms," said Agus.
Agus explained that the weapon was not an organic weapon belonging to the TNI or the Police but a foreign-made weapon of the SIG Sauer type. SIG Sauer is a weapon manufactured by a Swiss and German collaboration.
To the investigators, ASR admitted to buying the weapon from a friend named Erik, while still working in Lampung in 2022 for a price of Rp. 2 million.
He bought the weapon with the intention to protect himself because he worked in the private security sector.
"He works in the security services. So, he bought it to protect himself," said Agus.
However, Agus admitted that he was still conducting further investigations regarding the alleged network and the involvement of other parties in the distribution of weapons related to ASR.
Furthermore, in 2023, ASR changed jobs in Bali. He also took one of the guns with him on the road.
Initially, the number of bullets in the gun was five, but ASR had conducted a test fire around his dormitory so that currently only four bullets remained.
"Initially there were 5 bullets. Then he tested, tried once in an empty field, so now BB has 4 ammunition," said Agus.
In Bali, continued Agus, ASR admitted that he wanted to sell it through social media.
However, the action was suspected by the Indonesian Navy.
The Joint Team of the Regional Command of the Navy V (Kodaeral V) and the Bali Naval Base (Lanal) also arrested ASR at a warung in the Padang Sambian area, West Denpasar, on Thursday (22/1/2026).
ASR, a man from Bandar Lampung, was secured by the Joint Kodaeral V and Lanal Bali Team after the police received information regarding the alleged involvement of the suspected perpetrator in the illegal firearms distribution network in the Bali region.
The commander of the Denpasar Naval Base, Rear Admiral (P) Cokorda G.P. Pemayun, stated that ASR was a member of the Komcad TNI AD.
"On the one hand, he is part of the security service. On the other hand, he is also a member of Komcad. We received information from one of the residents, then it was investigated by our intelligence team," said Pemayun.
He said ASR offered the firearm on social media.
TNI AL members who suspected the activity tried to enter by pretending to be buyers until they met at a warung makan in Padangsabian, West Denpasar. That's when the perpetrator was arrested by the joint officers of the Navy Regional Command V (Kodaeral V) and the Bali Navy Base (Lanal).
For his actions, ASR was charged with Article 306 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).
