JAKARTA - The Class II B Wamena Penitentiary, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Mountains, thwarted an attempt to escape seven prisoners or inmates during the afternoon exercise break.

The seven convicts who tried to escape were Nikson Matuan (remaining prisoners 8 years 11 months), Oniel Elopere (remaining prisoners 27 days), Oroi Kossay (remaining prisoners 9 days), Soleman Elopere (remaining prisoners 25 days), Paul Asso (remaining prisoners 6 days), Iyoktogi Telenggen (remaining prisoners 20 days) and Agus Lanny (remaining prisoners 17 years 4 months).

From the information obtained, the incident began at 15.00-17.00 WIT was the schedule for self-built sports for inmates and prisoners of the Wamena Class II B Prison, so that prisoners were allowed to go out on the sports field in the middle of the Wamena Class II B Prison.

At around 16.30 WIT, seven inmates and prisoners climbed the first fence (ornames fence) by climbing the wudhu place of the mosque inside the prison. After successfully climbing the first fence, the seven inmates and prisoners climbed the second fence by mutual cooperation.

At 16.48 WIT, personnel from the Intelkam Unit of Res Jayawijaya and personnel from the Arrow of Reskrim Res Jayawijaya led by the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jayawijaya Police, AKP Sugarda Buwana Trenggoro, carried out a quick response to the Class II B Prison on Jalan Hom-Hom Wamena.
