JAKARTA - Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that the Board of Peace (BoP) has the main mandate to oversee the implementation of the ceasefire, maintain security stability, and monitor the reconstruction process of Gaza in the post-conflict transition period.
He made the statement following Indonesia's official involvement in an international initiative aimed at promoting sustainable peace in Gaza.
"In its main mandate, the Board of Peace is tasked with overseeing the implementation of the ceasefire, security stabilization, and the reconstruction process of Gaza," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 23.
In addition, said Teddy, the BoP was also directed to restore civil governance and ensure the transition process towards long-term peace in the region.
The BoP is an international body initiated by US President Donald Trump to oversee the administration, stabilization, and reconstruction of Gaza in the post-conflict transition period.
The formation of this body is part of the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict (20-Point Roadmap) and has received the support of the United Nations Security Council through Resolution 2803 (2025).
President Prabowo Subianto was one of the world leaders who signed the Board of Peace Charter during the 2026 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Thursday (22/1).
After the signing, President Prabowo assessed the presence of BoP as an important momentum for global peace efforts.
"I think this is a historic opportunity, this is really an opportunity to achieve peace in Gaza," the president said.
Prabowo emphasized Indonesia's readiness to play an active role in the forum as part of Indonesia's humanitarian commitment and contribution to world peace.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump called the Board of Peace as one of the most important and potentially historic peace initiatives.
